In partnership with Chicanos por la Causa’s Nahui Ollin Wellness Program, our youth members—once mentees—have stepped into their roles as mentors and leaders.
At the Corazón de Aztlán Youth Leadership Retreat, they led workshops centered on social justice, Indigenous culture, and philosophy, guiding other BIPOC youth to connect and create.
Through this retreat, they facilitated a mural input session designed to explore themes of racial justice and community organizing—grounding creative expression in lived experience and collective vision.
The resulting mural lives just down the street from Midtown Farm, on March Pl and South Palo Verde Ave, in a once-abandoned lot we’ve been transforming into a Parcel Park.
Designed by youth members Alaina Pierce and Alfonso Chavez, and brought to life through a community paint day, the mural reflects the neighborhood’s collective hopes for healing, art, and regeneration.
Through art, we reimagine the spaces we live in—and build power for what comes next.
This mural is a marker of transformation.
It symbolizes a cycle of growth, mentorship, and renewal rooted in the voices of local BIPOC youth. By integrating art and regenerative agriculture, we aim to continue beautifying and activating Barrio Centro for generations to come.
